Abstract Nautical Painting, Giclee Print
The Boatman - A nautical themed giclee print of an original abstract painting completed as part of a 5am painting challenge.
The technique I used was finger painting blue acrylic paint on canvas and playing with scale. When I photographed the acrylic paint it the reflection and depth reminded me of the sea and immediately a song came into mind “The Boatman” by Levellers.
The lyrics made me think of a hardworking fisherman with an emotional attachment to the sea. It made me think of my own creative journey and being free to do what I love. I have opted to print this using the highest grade Giclée print which wont fade that is long lasting and is anti-fade.
The paper is Hahnemühle Photo Rag which has a delicately smooth finish, almost like felt, it is a great structure for expressing depth and fine detail. It holds ink incredibly for rich tones and striking contrast.
